Sovereign Hills

Sovereign Hill is a re-creation of an old mining town and a living museum, which depicts life as it was more than 100 years ago. Locals dress in clothes of the period and run shops, businesses and a school. They also still mine for gold. We got to see them take some of the gold they mined melt it down and turn it into a 6lb gold bar. It was a very fun and interesting place. The kids loved it. There were horse and buggy's going up and down the streets Abby loved seeing the"neighs" she loves horses. We had a really good time.

Inside an old buggy. Blake thought it was the coolest thing that horses use to pull people around in buggy's instead of people driving in cars.

Looking for gold. People find nuggets of gold in this stream everyday, just not us.
This reminded me of the one they had at Pioneer Village at Lagoon when I was a kid.

Blake was very busy digging for gold he did not want any help.
Brady was sure we were going to find gold. No luck!!

Abby was looking for ducks.
This is inside where the machines are that mine the gold.

That looks like a really fun place to go. That is cool that the kids got to pan for gold. Very cute pictures and kids.
